Bath Chronicle New Story

More than 100 jobs are to be created in two new care complexes in the Bath area.

Bristol-based Claverton Healthcare has bought Springfield House, a former residential home at Entry Hill, and is also developing plans for a separate care facility at Saltford.

The firm - already involved in similar projects in Bristol, Chippenham and Exeter - will create a home for 60 residents at Springfield House, which is in 1.3 acres of land.

The firm, run by father and son Stephen and Leon Fear, says it wants to "create a secure and peaceful environment."

It says Bath is high on the priority list of every operator in the health and care sector.Click here! Its Saltford project would consist of a 75-bed specialist dementia care home and 39 "close care" sheltered apartments, with a planning application due to be submitted in the near future.

The £21 million village development would be designed around a central courtyard and the firm says it would be a "benchmark facility" in terms of design and build quality.

It wants to start work on the 21-month project this summer.

Claverton's current UK landholdings are now approaching a value of £200 million.

Chairman Stephen Fear said: "People in the twilight of their lives deserve the very best living conditions that society can provide.

"We aim to build all our new homes to a standard where people look forward to moving in rather than dreading it.

"As a nation we owe it to our elderly and infirm to protect and care for them when they can no longer care for themselves."
